US President Joe Biden on Thursday held a meeting with top artificial intelligence companies, including CEOs of Google and Microsoft, to discuss AI-related risks and security measures. The meeting was attended by Sundar Pichai from Google and Satya Nadella from Microsoft, Sam Altman from OpenAI and Dario Amodi from Anthropic. Also present at the meeting were Vice President Kamala Harris and Biden Administration Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, National Economic Council Director Lyle Brainard and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

According to White House officials, generative artificial intelligence has become a buzzword today and companies are racing to create a product like ChatGPT. Companies feel that ChatGPT will decisively change the way they work in every sector in the days to come. President Biden, who reached this meeting which lasted for two hours, also used ChatGPT and was given in-depth information about it.

After the meeting, Vice President Harris said in a statement that technology has the potential to improve lives, but it can also pose a threat to security, privacy and civil rights. He told CEOs that they have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of their artificial intelligence products and that the administration is discussing ways to create and support new laws on artificial intelligence.
