Government gets Patnaik, Reddy and Badal's support amid opposition's boycott of new parliament inauguration ceremony
New Parliament Inauguration: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's party Biju Janata Dal has cleared its stand on the ongoing political tussle over the inauguration of the new Parliament House. The Biju Janata Dal issued a letter saying that it would participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Parliament House.

The opposition parties have suffered a major setback in the ongoing political rar on the inauguration of the new Parliament House by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28. Describing the inauguration of the Parliament House by the Prime Minister as unconstitutional, the opposition parties are demanding President Draupadi Murmu inaugurate it. Along with the Congress, 19 opposition parties have also issued a joint statement in this demand. But this opposition unity suffered a major setback on Wednesday evening when Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's party cleared its stand on the issue and said it would attend the inauguration ceremony. The Biju Janata Dal issued a letter saying that the party would participate in the inauguration program. Apart from these, SAD and Andhra CM's party have also given consent to attend the function.
In a letter issued by BJD on Wednesday evening, it was said that the President of India is the head of the country. The Parliament represents the 1.4 billion people of India. Both institutions are symbols of Indian democracy and derive their authority from the Constitution of India. The party further said that their authority and stature should always be protected.
The BJD further said that the party believes that these constitutional institutions should be above any issue. Which may affect their sanity and honor. Such issues can always be debated later. So BJD will be a part of this momentous occasion. This inauguration ceremony of BJD is being considered a major setback for the opposition parties. Because on the rights issue of President Draupadi Murmu, the party of his own home state is keeping a different opinion from the opposition parties.
It is known that PM Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the new Parliament House on 28 May. All political parties have been invited to the opening ceremony. But meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded that President Draupadi Murmu inaugurate the new Parliament House. Rahul's demand was supported by 19 opposition parties including the Congress.
In a joint statement, 19 opposition parties alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to inaugurate the new Parliament House, completely bypassing President Murmu, is not only a gross insult to the President but a direct attack on our democracy. However, many opposition parties have also announced their participation in the ceremony. But now Naveen Patnaik attending the event is going to weaken the opposition unity.
Apart from the Biju Janata Dal, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has also said to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House on Wednesday. Along with Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy's party has also agreed to participate in this function. Now it has to be seen that as the inauguration ceremony draws near, which other opposition parties participate in the ceremony?
