In the third set, there was a close fight between both players. But, eventually, Prannoy won the third set 21-18 to win the title of Malaysia Masters 2023. With this, HS Prannoy has created history in Malaysia Masters. He has become the first Indian to win gold in the men's category of this tournament.
Star Indian shuttler HS Prannoy created history by winning the gold medal at the Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur. HS Prannoy is the third Indian after Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu to win this title. With this, he has become the first Indian to win gold in the men's singles category. This gold is Pranay's first medal of this season.
Earlier on Saturday, in the semi-final match, Prannoy had a fight with Christian Adinata of Indonesia, in which Prannoy performed brilliantly. However, Adinata injured her knee and had to leave the match. The game between Pranay and Adinata could not even be completed in the first set. Indonesian shuttler Adinata was carried with the help of a wheelchair. With this, Prannoy got a ticket to the final of the Malaysia Masters.
HS Prannoy and China's Wang Hongyang saw a close fight in the first set of the final match played on Sunday, but in the end, Prannoy won 21-19. After this, in the second set, Wang Hongyang made a great comeback and won 21-13. In the third set, there was a close fight between the two.
