Congress banned Lord Ram, now wants to ban those who worship Hanuman too: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at the Congress for its promise to ban Bajrang Dal in its election manifesto. Addressing a public meeting in Hospet, Karnataka, PM Modi strongly attacked the Congress. PM Modi termed it (the manifesto) as the party's attempt to shut down those who worship Hanuman. He claimed that Congress had earlier banned Lord Ram and now wanted to ban those who chanted 'Jai Bajrang Bali' (Hail to Hanuman). The Prime Minister further said that the BJP will not allow any harm to the dignity and culture of Karnataka. The BJP government is continuously engaged in reducing the gap between the village and the city.

Addressing an election rally here in Vijayanagar district, Modi said, "I have come to the land of Hanuman." I am fortunate that I got the opportunity to bow down on the land of Hanuman. But see the misfortune that at the same time the Congress party has decided to lock up Bajrangbali in its manifesto. Modi said, first they (Congress) banned Lord Ram and now they have vowed to ban those who chant 'Jai Bajrang Bali'. PM Modi said that it is the country's misfortune that the Congress had a problem with Lord Ram and now it has a problem with those who say 'Jai Bajrangbali'.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the BJP is determined to make Karnataka the number one state. By bowing my head at the feet of Hanuman Ji, I pray for the accomplishment of this fast. Modi took a pledge, BJP will not allow anyone to harm the honor and culture of Karnataka.

PM Modi said that the Vijayanagara dynasty and its history are the pride of India. Mentioning the name of the glorious ruler of the Vijayanagara dynasty, Sri Krishnadevaraya immortalized this region with his resources. He strengthened trade relations with various countries and made the culture of Karnataka famous all over the world.

Let us tell you that on Tuesday, the Congress in its manifesto committed to take concrete and decisive action against organizations that spread hatred between communities on the basis of caste and religion. We believe that the law and the Constitution are sacred. No individual or Bajrang Dal, PFI and other organizations that spread hatred and enmity, be it between the majority or the minority, can violate the law and the Constitution. We will take decisive action, including banning such organizations under the law.
