Barmer,Rajasthan : The Congress party in Rajasthan's Siwana assembly constituency is divided into two factions, making it difficult for the party to win the upcoming elections.
On Saturday, Lok Sabha observer Baldev Thakur and Vidhansabha in-charge Prahlad Patel visited Siwana to meet with the party workers and resolve the issue. However, the two factions held separate meetings, one at Champawadi and the other at Dak Bungalow.
Thakur urged the party workers to unite and work together for the victory of the Congress party. He said that the party has a good chance of winning the elections this time, but only if the workers are united.
The two factions are led by Sunil Parihar and Pankaj Pratap Singh. Pankaj Pratap Singh is a former MLA candidate from the area and has a strong base of support. Parihar is a new entrant to the party, but he is backed by the Gehlot government.
It is unclear how the Congress party will resolve the issue of factionalism in Siwana. However, the observer's visit has brought the issue to the forefront and it is likely that the party will take steps to address it soon.
The Congress party has not won the Siwana assembly seat for 20 years. The party has been giving tickets to new candidates in every election, but this has not helped to unite the party. The two factions are deeply divided and it is difficult to see how the party can win the elections without resolving this issue.
The observer's visit is a positive step, but it remains to be seen whether it will be enough to unite the party. The party workers need to come together and work for the victory of the Congress party. If they can do this, then the party has a good chance of winning the elections in Siwana.
